Kashan Rug

A Kashan Rug is a type of Persian rug from the area of Kashan. Kashan is a city in Isfahan Province in North Central Iran. In the 17th and early 18th century the Royal workshops had a  production of Persian Carpets.  Many people state that the Persian Rugs and Carpet were invented by Kashan in the 16th century especially the small silk Kashan Persian Carpet, there is  no published evidence that support this claim. The Persian Carpet workshops ceased production in 1722 after the Afghan invasion.
